Books read in February 2007:
The Rover - Fun and silly fantasy about a halfling librarian who becomes and unwitting adventurer and hero. I started the sequel, The Destruction of the Books, but was unimpressed and stopped after a few pages.
Sophie's World - A novel about the history of philosophy. Very odd, as you might imagine. It begins with the questions "Who are you?" and "Where does the world come from?" and answers them in some surprising ways.
Reaper Man (reread) - Still my favorite of the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett. Reading it made me realize that I really want to read the whole series from the beginning. *sigh* the "To Read" list grows.
The Areas of my Expertise - John Hodgman, Daily Show "resident expert" and amusing portrayer of PCs on Macintosh commercials, wrote this offbeat and often funny collection of "facts". Definitely worth a read.
100 Bullets: Split Second Chance - Trade paperback from the gritty 100 Bullets comic book series. Something like New Jack City meets Paranoia. Not for everyone.
Lucifer: Children & Monsters - Lucifer (yes, that Lucifer) attempts to regain his wings in preparation for a battle with the Heavenly Host over posession of a doorway into the Void. Did that make sense? It took me about half the book to understand it myself. One of the pitfalls of jumping into a comic series in the middle. Very nice art and some disturbing moments.
Just a Geek - Star Trek's Wil Wheaton talks about what it's like to recover from being Star Trek's Wil Wheaton and become himself. One of the best memoirs I've ever read.
I logged in to Blogger this morning because I was concerned that many of my recent posts hadn't made it to the blog. I found that they had gone through, but were being saved as drafts rather than published entries. I ended up publishing more than a dozen items dating back to the beginning of February!
There are two possible culprits for this. I recently changed from the "Old Blogger" to the "New Blogger", and at some point, my blog was flagged as a possible "Spam Blog". Funny. You'd think a spammer would post more than twice a week. Stupid robots.
Anyway, I'm asking my loyal readers (all 9-15 of you, depending on the week) to go back and look at anything you might have missed, and I promise to get all this straightened out so that I can continue to bring you the very best in pointless inanity. Thanks for listening!
