Joyful noises

BB is old enough now to play in the youngest chime choir, and today is their first Sunday morning service. He's the shortest one. :-)

Exercise

Tonight I walked 2.5 miles from our place to my in-laws'. They watched the boys so The Wife and I could go to a tour and pre-registration at the hospital. Less than 2 months now until TS's eviction date!

Exercise

Once again I took the opportunity to bike to and from handbell rehearsal tonight. I found a slightly shorter route through the neighborhood, so my ride there was a skosh shorter: about 8 minutes. On my ride home, though, I had a headwind, so it was 15 again.

Hay Maze

Granny Jenny sent the boys and I to a pumpkin patch to pick out a few for her yard (and a couple for the kids as well. They had a great time.

Exercise

Tonight, for my birthday wish, the whole family went swimming for about an hour at the YMCA. We had a great time.

Incredibly thought-provoking visual representation of how Web 2.0 has changed the way information works, and how that changes us.

Information R/evolution

This is going to pop up twice on my blog, since I sent it to del.icio.us, but I wanted to make sure as many people see it as possible. If you don't understand how the web has changed information (and libraries in particular), this is a great, thought-provoking video that makes it clear. Please watch.

New Blankie

My parents sent me a blanket for my birthday. It's yellow on one side and has tools on the other. How cool is that?

Tree

My in-laws took me to one of my favorite restaurants, Lanna Thai, for an early birthday dinner tonight. While I waited for them, I was admiring this beautiful little tree. For a few years now I've been shooting trees in black and white with an old Canon 35mm camera. Someday I'd like to do some nice-sized prints and show them somewhere.

Generosity

Our friends at church threw TS a baby shower tonight. One of the sopranos made up a "money tree" for us. It's amazing the willingness to help and support us that we've found in this congregation. We are blessed indeed!

Oh. Em. Gee.

Nina Totenberg is coming to Tulsa. She'll be giving free-and-open-to-the-public talks at TU.

Nina Totenberg. In my town. For free.

My inner NPR fanboy is hyperventilating.

Rock Climbing

BB and I went to a rock gym with some co-workers today. On this climb he touched the ceiling!

Hot and Sweaty

Unbeknownst to me, today's soccer practice was a scrimmage. Parents against kids. The grownups won, but it wasn't easy. Even LB was worn out from cheering us on at the sidelines. I got in about 45 minutes of serious exercise.
