Actually, I took French in high school. When I was teaching HS in Missouri, I "taught" a class called Spanish via Satellite. Really, it was taught by an instructor at the U of M twice a week, and I facilitated activities on Mon/Wed/Fri. That gave me the equivalent of a year of HS Spanish.
Since joining the library, I took a crash course in "library Spanish" because nobody on the second floor here could speak any, and I wanted to make sure Latino patrons had somebody to communicate with.
