Oh, sure. It's full NOW. After a 1.5 mile walk to a gas station, a grocery store, and THREE drugstores didn't turn up a gas can for sale, a Texaco service station had one to loan me. Then I drove the other direction, and the first gas station I saw had them on the shelf. Guess I should have walked east in the first place.

Those of you who only know me through this blog might not know it, but I have another interest besides books and libraries. I play with yo-yos and other skill toys. I used to do it just for fun, but when I lived in the Twin Cities, I did it professionally for awhile, and I still have the occasional paying gig.
Last night, though, I did a freebie show for the South Broken Arrow library to help them kick off the summer reading program. It wasn't my best performance. I got a knotted string in the middle of things, and I hadn't pocketed a backup like I usually do. I made it through okay, though. I also want to take this opportunity to let everyone know about the launch of my new website, http://www.yoyology.net. It's a very simple site, but my purpose in putting it together was to have a central place for my personal and business (yo-yoing) web presence. Please take a look if you have a chance.
Now back to your regularly scheduled pointless rambling.

My current earworm (for the past several days) is "Delia's Gone," the old murder ballad as sung by Johnny Cash. Just one more in a long series of dangerous songs to sing aloud.
I think it started back in 5th grade or so. I distinctly remember walking down the hallway singing Helen Reddy's "I am Woman, Hear Me Roar." Hardly the best thing for my already-baseline reputation.
Last night, as Little Brother was having a hard time going to sleep, I sung "Delia's Gone" to him. He seemed to enjoy it. Good thing he doesn't know what the words mean.

For some reason, I've been having a difficult time getting this post to go through, so here I am doing it manually.
Tuesday night I had my first sparring match at karate, against an opponent (the only other "old guy") three levels above me. I took one hard hit to the chest (still feeling it now, in fact) but in the end I won 3 to 2 on points! My best moment was a jump front snap kick. I didn't connect, but I recovered fast enough to block his return strike.
I've never been a sporty person, but damn, that was fun.

I finally finished the blanket I've been crocheting since well before he was born.
