6.39 miles in 32 minutes this morning. Then the long loop from downtown to work. It's 16.24 miles, 12.82 of which I biked in 95 minutes. Then I walked my broken bike the rest of the way. The front derailleur got caught in the teeth of my largest chainring as I was upshifting, and it twisted around. If I'd had tools with me, I could have just taken it off and I would have been okay. From now on, the Leatherman goes with me on every single ride.

This plywood cutout of a woman in a long dress is attached to the inside of the fence at a power substation along my biking trail.

From the fading, it's clear she's been there a long time, but her hat/bonnet was painted white at one time, and her dress was red. I wonder who put her up there and why.

This was put together by someone using some of the magnetic poetry on my gender display. The poem reads:

She   is another man's poison   A thing of beauty
is a man's best friend   a good woman
         make the man

      will be boys

Today's earworm: "Monchichi, Monchichi. Oh so soft and cuddly. Put his thumb in his mouth, he's really neat. It's fun to wiggle his little feet. Monchichi, Monchichi, happy, happy, Monchichi." For those who didn't grow up in the 80's, Monchichi was this creepy little stuffed monkey whose thumbs and big toes would fit in its mouth. I wanted one pretty badly. God only knows why it's in my head.

This weekend we hit Name Brand Clothing, and I found this snazzy French-cuffed dress shirt for $10. I wanted to wear it today, and it just didn't look right until I had the waistcoat and braces and the medallion tie. People at work think I have a job interview. The cufflinks were my grandfather's. The only other time I wore them was my wedding.
